Ident Project

We started learning Adobe After Effects and to put our skills into practise by making a short ident for our course at the uni. We were asked to include footage from our experimental project.

I found this quite hard to grasp throughout the project, but now i've finished creating it, i'm really happy with how the luma mattes worked out. Not so happy with the end as it's not really exciting enough? Seems more like something which would appear at the end of a feature length film, whereas I was hoping to create like a channel advert which is fast and snappy. I'm happy with this overal though!

Plus here's some cheeky stills which I think look really interesting!:

Experimentation Project: Blue

For my final experiment I decided to use pixelation again as I had several ideas i wanted to use. Over the easter holidays i spent some time painting my flat mate, painting up the walls and playing with pasta shapes. I had too much footage in the end! So I cut some out in the editing stages.

I wanted to try and portray water somehow but it was quite hard and in the end I focused on making the animation match the ambience of the song I'd chosen. Overall I am happy with what i created, but i still think the sand animation matches the song clip more. Next time I should plan my dope sheets further.

Experimentation Project: Sand

I tried out animating with sand and it actually turned out so much better than i thought! I timed the moved to another sound track I had been given and it worked so nicely i decided to use the same sample of music for my final experiment

Experimentation Project: Pixelation

I really enjoyed making a pixelation with my peer Freddie. We had great fun trying out our ideas and most of them work really well. I have so many ideas for pixelation projects I would love to take these further in my final experiment.
Here is my edit:
We were given music to edit our final experiments to, so i've tried it out with this film. Freddie also made an edit to an outside soundtrack for fun. I prefer his edit because it portrays how much fun we had making it. Here's a link, definatly worth checking out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5FDp4JBZPw&feature=my_liked_videos&list=LL3ZxsQ-HbnmJtmpz6RwlYOg

Experimentation Project: Scratching Film

A new assignment! We were asked to explore experimental animation. Personally I am really looking forward to this as i've always been interested in experimental film. For my first experiment I looked into scratching on film. It didn't work as well as i hoped; I scratched the wrong side at first and then it went out of sync. Overall i'm glad i tried it but don't think i'll use it for my main experiment as its hard to maintain consistancy.
